Leading cut ‘gift’ feels like it should be the sound track to a futuristic sci-fi flick, undulating machine-driven funk. crunchy, tribal electronic drums and ominous clicks and bleeps give way to rising synthetic stabs and haunting strings as the track reaches it’s peak. heads down and lights out people! for the remix, by twisting the sounds just enough to inject his quirky character, jeff samuel warms things up and brings the soul. one of his irresistibly bouncy bass lines combines with rattling, metallic percussive fills, maintaining the energy and the groove throughout. he actually manages to make one of the stabs sound like a robotic elephant - what more could we ask for! finally mic ensures all sonic frequency’s are covered in ‘rich man’- throbbing sub bass patterns play off warm low-end synths whilst the tight metallic claps rattle around a wonderfully rich lead stab, tickling the full stereo range.
