Oslo continues to innovate and deliver the next generation of dance music. this time they are presenting mara trax, alter ego of vera heindel & maayan nidam aka miss fitz. you may recognize vera as robert johnson's princess, or outside of frankfurt as the dj that converted a lot of dancing shoes into dust. maayan on the other hand, is known for her outstanding releases on raum..musik, circus company etc. as well as "the small dj that plays big sets". the two share a passion for raw, old school house grooves which makes their futuristic production style so unique & deep. the ep starts off with "funk me", an irresistible groove bomb that takes you high using colorful yet tasteful layers of house chords & acid bass. moving on to "me funk", you'll find the beautiful dubby version of the same composition, perfect for a morning-haze dj set as it keeps a slow moving and hypnotic groove. on the flip side, the beautiful tenderness of what you heard is losing it's innocence and spices up to an intelligent house track: let goose. it's a new breed of dance music that keeps the groove on while exploring new territories in music & challenging them. finally, the rhythm. a track with a promising name that follows through, staying true to the oslo sound of sophisticated club bombs with a wink. |
