Umek returns with the second release on his newly formed 1605 music therapy imprint. the debut release saw vorr deliver a devilishly driving ep 'outlaws'.
this time its the turn of the label boss to step up with a track that was originally heard for the first time back in 2002. officially slovenia's finest and most successful dj/producer, umek has made an indelible mark on the world of techno with his releases and remixes.
over the past cpl of years his remixes have really brought him to the fore. his reworkings of nathan fake's 'outhouse', julian jeweil's 'air conditionne' and ralph falcon's 'the dig' are simply superb and have found incredible support from the worlds finest dj's.
so back to 2002, and a certain track by the name of 'gatex'. they don't come much noisier, nastier or more in your face than gatex, and it was this, matched with the fact that it is a true masterpiece, that saw the track gain massive support right across the board with techno and trance dj's all throwing it down in their sets. the track is also beatless, which made it the ultimate tool for the discerning dj.
originally released on magik muzik, it is now back where it belongs, with umek. the original mix package was a trance dj's delight, with mixes from tiesto, oliver lieb and dj montana but to celebrate the return, umek has taken a different route and drafted in a remixer who is in a terrifically rich vein of form right now. with his own excentric muzik going from strength to strength and with new releases and remixes such as 'ireland' on great stuff and 'hinode' & 'dirty' for king unique, fergie's star really is shining brightly right now. here he gets to grips with gatex, and treats it with the utmost of respect. adding his now trademark rolling basslines, and teasing the original melody throughout, he delivers a real modern take on this classic, and one that we are sure will get plenty of support.
